Thailand: Stappen in de richting van de decriminalisering van cannabis

Thailand heeft als eerste land in Azië ingestemd met dat cannabis de facto wordt gedecriminaliseerd, hoewel de autoriteiten een grijs gebied hebben opengelaten rond het recreatief gebruik ervan.

Minister van Volksgezondheid Anutin Charnvirakul kondigde aan dat de Narcotics Control Board had ingestemd met het schrappen van cannabis van de lijst van gecontroleerde drugs van het ministerie.

De schrapping door de Food and Drug Administration van het ministerie moet nu formeel worden ondertekend door de minister van Volksgezondheid en treedt in werking 120 dagen na de publicatie ervan in het staatsblad.

Thailand: Moves towards the decriminalisation of cannabis

Thailand became the first country in Asia to approve the de facto decriminalization of cannabis, though authorities have left a grey area around its recreational use.

Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced that the Narcotics Control Board had approved the dropping of cannabis from the ministry’s list of controlled drugs.

The delisting by the ministry’s Food and Drug Administration will now need to be formally signed by the health minister and enters into effect 120 days after its publication in the government gazette.
